Editorial Policy
Last updated: April 2026 · See also: How We Test · Affiliate Disclosure
AI Gadget Expert exists to help people make informed decisions about AI gadgets and smart technology. This page explains the rules our editorial team follows to ensure everything we publish is honest, accurate, and useful.
The short version: No company pays us to write reviews. No affiliate deal changes what we recommend. If we get something wrong, we fix it and tell you what changed. Everything else on this page is the detail behind those three commitments.
Editorial Independence
Our editorial decisions - what to cover, how to rate products, and what to recommend - are made entirely by our editorial team. No brand, manufacturer, retailer, or affiliate partner has any input into our content. This applies to every article type: reviews, guides, comparisons, news, and educational content.
Specifically:
- We do not accept payment for product reviews or favorable coverage
- We do not give brands advance notice of review scores or allow pre-publication approval
- We do not adjust recommendations based on which products pay higher affiliate commissions
- Our editorial team does not report to or take direction from our business operations
Fact Verification
Every factual claim in our articles - prices, specifications, feature availability, release dates - is verified against at least one official source before publication. Our primary sources are:
- Manufacturer websites and spec sheets - apple.com, samsung.com, store.google.com, etc.
- Regulatory filings - FCC and CE certification documents for hardware specs
- Published research - clinical studies (e.g., Oura sleep validation), industry reports (IDC, Counterpoint)
- Direct testing - where we have tested a product ourselves, our measurements take precedence over manufacturer claims
When information is based on leaks, rumors, or analyst predictions rather than confirmed facts, we label it explicitly. Our Apple AI Glasses article is an example - it clearly distinguishes confirmed patents from speculative features.
Corrections Policy
We take errors seriously. When we publish incorrect information - whether factual, typographical, or analytical - we follow this process:
Immediate correction - the error is fixed in the article as soon as it is identified
Correction note - a note is added at the bottom of the article stating what was changed and when
Updated date - the article's last-modified date is updated to reflect the correction
If a correction materially changes a recommendation (e.g., a product we recommended turns out to have a safety issue), we update the article prominently and re-evaluate our rating.
Content Update Schedule
- Product reviews - revisited at 3 and 6 months, and when major firmware updates ship
- Buying guides - updated when new models launch or prices shift by more than 10%
- Comparison articles - refreshed quarterly or when new competitors enter the category
- Educational content - reviewed annually or when the underlying technology changes significantly
Every article displays its publication date and last-updated date so you can always assess how current the information is.
Conflict of Interest
Team members are required to disclose if they own stock in, have a financial interest in, or maintain personal relationships with companies whose products we cover. When a potential conflict exists, it is either disclosed in the article or the team member recuses themselves from that coverage.
Affiliate Revenue Transparency
AI Gadget Expert earns revenue through affiliate links (primarily Amazon Associates). This is how we fund the site. Affiliate relationships are disclosed on every article that contains product links, and our full financial disclosures are available on our Affiliate Disclosure page.
The key commitment: affiliate commission rates never influence our recommendations. We have recommended products with 0% commission over products with 8% commission when the lower-commission product was simply better.
